Delivered in the company’s new contemporary packaging, these new products precisely answer customer needs in a highly contested European marketplace. Trico®, a world leader in replacement windscreen wiper blades for the automotive aftermarket will launch two complete new wiper programs at Automechanika, Frankfurt in September. Delivered in the company’s new contemporary packaging, these new products precisely answer customer needs in a highly contested European marketplace.
The name Trico has been synonymous with innovations in vehicle
wiper systems and driver visibility since1917 when the company was
the first to commercially produce the product. Arguably the world’s
leading wiper blade manufacturer, Trico today supplies over 80 million
units a year to the world’s automotive aftermarket.
Driven by a comprehensive market study and customer research, the
company now has an even stronger product portfolio, aimed to provide
customers and drivers with the most complete range of quality wipers.
The new portfolio includes three levels of product technology:
premium, standard and budget, covering three styles of blade: beam,
conventional and rear blades. ”We are excited to introduce these two
complete new ranges, as well as our new aftermarket branding
initiative at Automechanika 2010” stated Lisa Innes, Trico Marketing
Manager, EU.
The all-new ‘Trico Tech™’ range of standard beam blades combines
excellent wiping characteristics with high quality manufacture to
provide a superb price/performance balance. Designed to fit most
manufacturers’ recent model vehicles and suitable for replacing some
conventional blades, Trico Tech provides superb coverage of the
market from an optimised range of only 35 part numbers. The range
comprises 10 parts with universal clip fitting and 25 parts with easy-fit
multiple adaptors included in the packaging.
Wide coverage of the European car parc from such a short range is
ideal for outlets where space is at a premium and requires minimal
stock investment. The range is particularly suitable for mass retail
outlets.
Today, four out of five new cars built in Europe come equipped with
beam blades as the original fitment. With these blades, the contact
pressure is evenly distributed by a pre-shaped rail rather than by the
multiple claws of the conventional wiper bracket. As well as minimising
linkage wear, beam blades conform to the shape of the windscreen
much better, an important factor with the current trends towards
deeper screens requiring longer wipers. This, together with the more
evenly distributed pressure, results in a cleaner wipe.
The second new range to be launched at the show: the ‘Trico®’ range
of standard conventional blades provides a high-quality direct
replacement for the original equipment blades on many older vehicles.
They come with the correct adaptor for the wiper arm already
pre-assembled to the blade, ensuring easy installation, saving time for
professional installers and allowing end users to change their own
blades in a matter of minutes.
The range comprises 15 parts, all with universal hook fitting and,
again, covers the majority of popular car and light commercial vehicles
models across Europe.
Automechanika will also see the unveiling of an exciting new global
identity for the Trico aftermarket brand – one that accurately reflects
its undisputed position as the wiper specialist and a further result of
the global market study. Designed to provide maximum shelf appeal
for packaged products, the new logo and brand identity provides a
modern, vibrant look and feel for Trico as it continues to evolve with
the needs of the industry. The new black logo is redolent of fresh
rubber, the primary component of the company’s products.
Announcing the new ranges, Trico’s Aftermarket Sales Director, Nigel
Cole, commented: “We’ve invested considerable resources in profiling
the marketplace for our products in Europe. With different levels of
vehicle and customer sophistication across the region as ‘Europe’
expands, we were conscious that there were some gaps in our
portfolio. These two ranges are the first part of our move to develop
our range in line with the needs of our customers. Our aim is to
provide a clearly differentiated range to cover the majority of the car
and light commercial vehicle parc wherever you are trading. Now
whether your customers need premium, standard or budget product,
it’s all available from one manufacturer: Trico.”
Both ranges are fully supported with a range of marketing collateral,
including online part selection through the Trico website, and point-
of-sale merchandising.
Trico products are distributed throughout Europe by a network of over
200 distributors in 36 countries, and are available in a wide variety of
end user outlets from independent garages and body repair shops to
motor factors and retail parts and accessory stores.

The contract is effective over the next two years and covers the supply
of front-fit conventional blades in both single packs and vehicle kit

Rob Clulow Trico’s OES Business Director commented: “This is another
good win for us in the original equipment spares sector and helps
propel us towards our aim of becoming the leading aftersales wiper
blade supplier to Europe’s OEMs. Once again we have been able to
demonstrate our credentials well enough to earn our way onto a
major European manufacturer’s supplier list. We’re continuing to grow
our business in this sector in Europe by delivering good value, quality
products on a schedule to match the manufacturer’s service
requirements.”
Parts will be packaged and branded specifically for Citroën and
avilable at dealerships for workshop replacement as well as to end
users over the parts counter.

blade types, are widely available throughout Europe, distributed in a
variety of end user outlets from independent garages and body repair

Trico supports search for UK’s first Master Fitter
A brand new contest to find the UK’s best automotive glazing fitter has won support from Trico Products, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wiper blades and associated systems.
With a European base in Pontypool, Trico’s sponsorship of the Master
Fitter competition reflects its commitment to helping raise skill levels
within the automotive glazing sector.
“We believe it is imperative for the automotive glazing professional to
understand the importance of driver visibility and the importance of
helping drivers understand wiper blade maintenance and regular
replacement”, states Lisa Nichols, Marketing Manager, Trico Europe.
For the first time, the UK will be represented on a world stage at the
2010 International Master Fitter Championships, being held at the
Glasstec International Trade Fair in Dusseldorf, at the end of
September. It is expected that national champions from up to fifteen
nations will be participating.
The national competition is being managed by Proskills, the Sector
Skills Council for the glass and related industries with direct support
from a number of organisations, including: the Independent
Windscreen Academy (IWA); Master Auto Glass; Laddaw; and the
Glass Qualifications Authority (GQA).
Winners of up to six regional finals over the next few months will pit
their skills in a grand final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 16
September to find the UK champion who will travel to Germany. Fitters
will be required to repair and replace a windscreen and replace a side
and rear window within a specified timeframe.
Maria Charlton, Director of the Independent Windscreen Academy,
which is providing technical and training support for Master Fitter UK,
said, “Advancing technology has meant automotive glaziers have
become highly skilled technicians. International Master Fitter provides
the opportunity for the UK’s best to be represented on a world stage.
It’s fantastic that Trico has wanted to align its brand with a new
opportunity to showcase UK skills on a global stage and its support
will add huge value to the initiative both here and abroad.”
Commenting on its involvement, Lisa Nichols, Marketing Manager, Trico,
said, “Trico is and always has been committed to ensuring optimum
driver visibility through the supply of OE-quality wipers and wiper
systems. For us, there is an obvious synergy between wipers and
windscreens as the two combine together to give the driver the best
possible view of the road ahead. We are excited to be supporting
Master Fitter UK and giving automotive glaziers the chance to test
their skills at an international level.”
Trico leads the way with innovative new online product selector
Trico, the world’s leading manufacturer of replacement windscreen wiper blades for the automotive aftermarket continues its drive to simplify the stocking and specification of its blade ranges by re-launching its popular online product catalogue in a new, simplified format.
Accessed through the company’s European website at
www.trico.eu.com, the catalogue provides easy access to all parts in
the ExactFit™, Neoform™ and TX ranges. Selectable by vehicle
application; by Trico part number or by competitor part number, the
tool provides stockists, fitters and end users fast and accurate
selection of the perfect replacement blade for virtually every popular
vehicle in use in Europe.
Trico products are distributed throughout Europe by a network of over
200 distributors in 36 countries, and are available in a wide variety of
end user outlets from independent garages and body repair shops to
motor factors and retail parts and accessory stores. The company
believes that its latest version of the e-catalogue is the sector’s
simplest to use whatever language you speak, and wherever you are i
in the purchasing or fitment chain.
The online selector now mirrors the new season’s printed catalogue
with shorter model descriptions and body styles and the inclusion of
icons to signify driver side/passenger side or rear fitting. For the first
time blade, arm and fitting images are also included.
This ordering innovation, coupled with Trico’s single blade packaging
means that not only do Trico stockists need to carry less stock to cover
all popular vehicles, its now even easier to specify the correct blade for
those vehicles. The product range includes conventional, high
performance beam and heavy duty blades with a full complement for
rear applications.
